Efficient and  effective – those are the words of the day!

As a former pageant girl I can tell you we are all about efficient and effective workouts.

If we didn’t get results, then we moved on to something else because I guarantee you we were not going to waste our precious time on a lame, worthless workout. We wanted results and we wanted to see them sooner than later.

So here is the LBD’s guide to  Healthy You!

Bottom line is if you are doing the same thing over and over again and not seeing some good results, then it’s time to move on.

For me, I have to walk farther.  I have to walk harder.  I wish it weren’t true, but that is what happens sometimes when we get older.  Yes, older, darn it!  But friends, we just have to buck up and get busy. If you are not seeing results then you need to mix it up and do something different.  As we age our metabolism slows down and we have to simply work smarter.  I love to lift free weights every other day!  It is one thing I really enjoy.  Find what works for you.

So here is the deal; you can take the girl out of the pageant but not the pageant out of the girl. It is in your blood. You can ask any of my one of my  pageant friends.   In fact, I use to walk with one all the time and she totally agrees we are about “effective and efficient”.  We always were and we always will be about getting healthy results sooner than later!  

As I have mentioned before, sometimes you need to toss the skinny jeans and the tiny little black dress. But sometimes you need to get your hinny back in shape and in that dress you just love to pieces.

Think working smarter and harder.  If you are not seeing a change in your body then you need a new routine. Bottom Line!

If you are walking 30 minutes and it is not doing a thing for you, then you need to walk 45 to 60 minutes. If that’s not working, try, try something else.

I have to say though that if you are looking for efficient and effective workout, then Denise Austins’s “Hit The Spot Pilates” is the No. 1 workout video I recommend. It has ballet and Pilates combined in one great workout, and six 10-minute workouts plus a 15-minute standing routine!  This workout is guaranteed to get you results – and fast.  You must go at your own pace and of course talk to your doctor before starting anything new.  Bottom line, use wisdom!  You may not want to hear all that, but you’ve got to get your grove on.

I love to walk, but better yet my body responds to walking.  If your body responds to dancing then start doing the Macarana!  If your body responds to swimming then grab some goggles and dive in!  And if you are blessed to still be able to run and your knees don’t squeak, then run until your heart’s content.

So just for laughs awhile back I ran into a friend I had not walked with before. Needless to say, my dear friend is a ferocious power-walker and the Little Black Dress managed to keep up,barely. In my defense, she is more than several years younger!  No not really…  But the good news is I hung in there and burned a zillion more calories than I would have without her. Yeah!

We are all busy, so efficient and effective is the key. Find what works for you. And get moving today.  You will feel better, sleep better and live longer!

      Lea, I am so sorry we missed seeing each other at Church too. Thank you for the wonderful complements. I do feel great and Life is good. I was in town serving as Chaplain for the Miss Oklahoma Pageant. I am Life Coaching and still speaking and working to finish my first book. We feel the Winds have finally shifted after much loss and heartbreak. God is indeed faithful
