I often hear MOMs say, “I have no time for myself,” and that they say, “I focus all my energy and attention on my kids” and “I just never take the time for what I need for myself.”   Sometimes they are proud of this statement and sometimes they aren’t.  Frankly, some women no longer know what they really need anymore.  So in turn MOMs put their own needs on the back burner and are on the treadmill of life and Motherhood.

MOMs must make time for themselves.

It is great that we love our children. But when we are always putting them first and neglect our diet, rest, marriage, and sometimes even our own personal appearance we need to make a change.  MOMs putting themselves last is not a good thing.  We run from carpool to sports activities, to church, to work, and we run around the kitchen while feeding our children and we often never sit to enjoy the meal. We boast that we are the masters of multitasking.

We we want are children to be successful but ironically in an effort to help them succeed we are no longer successful.

By putting our needs first, we can show our children that we value ourselves.  Certainly, we want to teach our children that important message.  But if as MOMs, we never take time to take care of ourselves think about the message we are sending our children then.

Carving out just a little time each day will go a long way.  This will allow MOMs to take better care of themselves way down the road.  Just start by taking a small step each day and eventually you will reap huge results and long-term benefits.  Consistency, discipline and valuing yourself enough to say, “I am worth it,” is all you need to start living a more balanced, successful and healthy life.

Try to think of it like this, “The more successful, healthy and happy we are, the more successful, happy and well adjusted our children are likely to be.”
