Embrace Your Life

Embrace Your Life

For as long as I can remember, I have tried to devote Thursday’s as a cleaning day. But lately everyday seems like cleaning day…

Keeping a house spic and span has never been my gift.  This is no secret to those you all who know me.   The combination of an creative and an artist, dealing with some focus issues add in three SONs and inheriting many of my parents treasures, well honestly, it makes for a crazy mix.

But yesterday it all seemed to came to a head for me emotionally, and I posted this on facebook,And yes I did shed a few tears. “Isn’t amazing how we learn from others pain. My precious prayer warrior mom struggled with too much Stuff. All the years I knew her and was blessed by her love and life. I was witness, her thorn in the flesh.  I have fought this thorn myself and prayed for help, wisdom and direction but society, friends and loved ones define us by it. They don’t want to but they do. Winters and I have joked about it ab lot in columns and blogs but the reality is  it is not really a joke.

I share this to give others hope not for you to feel sad for me. I want to encourage you and share these words to inspire you!  Most of all i want you to remember who you are in Christ.

I pray all those cullterist be strong and of good courage. Know you are not defined by your stuff but by Jesus Christ and His call on your life. Satan speaks lies and wants you to think you are less than you are because you have issues but He my friend is a liar and you are a gift flawed and imperfect but you are a gift. May all those around us know God is bigger than our clutter and certainly out mess is our message and yes He can use our story for His glory. Amen. Amen and praise God Amen. So whatever today is trying to kill your dream, steal your joy or leave you hopeless I pray you know that God is the God of restoration and hope!! ️️blessings and love my friends. Don’t give up and don’t give in.”

For the last months The SONs and I have been cleaning out and letting go of stuff. I feel we are always doing that.   It does feel fabulous to let go. but it is never easy.  But in the effort to let go we have made a bit of a mess.  So this Thankful Thursday started off by throwing on my oldest, most unattractive clothes and cleaning the toilets.

Trust me you can also learn a lot upside down scrubbing toilets, too.  I am always grateful that God can speak to me just about anywhere and that I can talk to God in equally the same manner.

I do some of my best praying while cleaning and it is a great way to keep me from grumbling about the mess The SONs have made.  So as I clean, I always give thanks that I have an indoor toilet to clean. Really, I do.  I give thanks that I have arms and hands to scrub with as well.  I usually thank God that through cleaning I am serving The Sons and Winters.

Now just so you know The SONs also do toilets too, but I just can’t let them run amuck with the Clorox or I will be in big trouble.  Let’s be honest – a man who can’t clean a toilet is not a good thing.  Men must know how to do certain things in life and toilets are just one that I think is pretty high on the list.

As I clean I pray for God’s blessing over our home.  For God’s peace to fill it and that our house will be a place where friends and family can experience the loving touch of our Savior Jesus Christ. Me included!  I often pray that the things and responsibilities of this world do not distract me from the real and important things of God.

I want a beautiful home, but more importantly, I want a beautiful heart.

I also want to focus my attention on the significant things in life and not the insignificant.

I want more out of life with less in it!   I have moved all over the house gathering the stuff we were all ready to let go of.  This week has felt incredible as I have let go of so many things that are no longer serving us well. But the best part of all is that our things will bless others.

So as you let go the old I urge to make  your cleaning day multi-purpose.  Because cleaning day can not only be good for your house it is also really good for your soul.  Why not make house cleaning a time to get real with God and ask Him to clean us up as well.

Here is the bottom line to all those I Love and  to those I coach, Do not be defined by your weaknesses and shortcoming. But be defined by your strengths and your giftings. And then I say go change the world short comings and thorns in the flesh and all. And remember to dance on the devil!! It will make you feel fabulous.

So on this Thankful Thursdays, here’s to less stuff, clean floors, clean toilets, clean clothes and most of all, clean and holy, humble, teachable heart!

Be blessed and encouraged abundantly on this Thankful Thursday as we live a self-examined life one; that is holy and blameless before the Lord!
