Freedom comes with a price

Freedom isn’t really free, is it?  Someone paid a price for freedom.

The founding Father’s paid a price.

Each solider that fought in every war, paid a price.

The men and women who lost their lives on 9/11 paid a price.

And the solder’s that fight today. This very hour.  This very minute.  They fight for you and I to be free and pay a price…

And even Jesus paid a price for you and I to be free…

God sent His Son to die on a cross for our sins.  He died and rose again, so we could be free!

The early Christians paid a price and many, many others…

Freedom has a price.  A price we can never take for granted and we must never forget.

A year ago today I watched such an inspiration message about Lauren Manning, who survived 9/11 and had burns over 82% of her body.

An amazing women and amazing story.  Her book is entitled  “Unmeasured Strength”.  I posted this last year and feel it worth remembering.

In the interview she said  the following things that I thought were life changing:

1. I made a conscious decision, a very conscious decision, to live that day.  I became determined to heal.

2. I have reconciled that I live with vast degrees of imperfections

4. I am more relaxed with the notion that not everything turns out the way we think it should

5. I am more forgiving and patient

6.  We can be touched by a tragedy but not be held by it!

Amazing how the human spirit can triumph over tragedy.  This woman is beautiful from the inside out.  She said, “She chose to live that day,  others did not have a choice.”

Wow, amazing life-giving words.

I pray if you need strength today that you will choose to press into God for strength.  If you are not free but bound up by sin, strongholds, forgiveness, hurt or even hate, I pray that you would ask God to set you free from whatever it is that hold’s you captive. For whom the Son sets free is free indeed!

If a women so affected by 9/11 can walk in such freedom, grace and mercy so can you and I.

I pray you and I will  never forget that freedom comes with a price.  I pray we will remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 and pray for their families left behind.  And may we take a moment to pray for those who continue to fight for our freedom, pray for our country, our leaders  and then give thanks for our freedoms.

Be blessed and encouraged.
