Politics is a hot topic, especially right now.  Tomorrow we will vote for the President of the United States of America.

Typically, I love to discuss politics but often prefer to stay out of the discussion as of late. That’s because there is too much division, frustration and even heated tempers associated with this presidential election.

However, we as Americans are a privileged group because we live in a democracy where we can vote.

An election where our vote does make a difference.  Where you do have the right to say “I want change” and then go to work to make that change happen even if it is just on your street alone.

No matter who wins the presidential election tomorrow, God is still God.  We must remember that.

This morning as I thought of  my Monday Muse~ Dreams and Inspirations, I could not help but think of the Reverend Martin Luther King and his fight to make Dreams come true for others who faced injustices in this very country.  He inspired a nation and a world to believe we could be better than ourselves.

I pray that we may be better than ourselves.

That we may inspire others to greatness.

I pray that we can work toward creating a world that sees and knows more about what we as Christian believe rather than what we don’t believe.

May we fight for righteousness, goodness and mercy for all people.

I dream of a world without human trafficking, murder, war and where people don’t live on the streets or in their cars and no one goes to bed hungry tonight.

I dream of a world that works hard to change the future for everyone.

I dream of a world that has learned from our past.

The following is an Excerpts from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s

I Have a Dream speech in Washington, D.C., August 28, 1963

I hope you will take a moment to read it and remember that we can all be apart a Dream to make it a reality.

I DREAMED A DREAM
CELEBRATING LIFE AND LIBERTY FOR ALL PEOPLE

Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow,
I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the
American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true
meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men
are created equal.”
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former
slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together
at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering
with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be
transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where
they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their
character.

little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white
boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day every valley shall be
exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will
be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of
the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from
every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be
able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white
men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands
and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

Dr. King’s Prayer

Almighty God, by the hand of Moses Your servant You led Your people out of
slavery, and made them free at last: Grant that Your Church, following the
example of Your prophet Martin Luther King, may resist oppression in the
name of Your love, and may secure for all Your children the blessed liberty of
the Gospel of Jesus Christ; Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This was a Powerful Affirmation of Faith Based on the Writings of Dr. King:

I refuse to believe that we are unable to influence the events which surround
us.
I refuse to believe that we are so bound to racism and war, that peace,
brotherhood and sisterhood are not possible.
I believe there is an urgent need for people to overcome oppression and
violence, without resorting to violence and oppression.
I believe that we need to discover a way to live together in peace, a way
which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of this way is
love.
I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in
reality. I believe that right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil
triumphant.
I believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies,
education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for
their spirits.
I believe that what self-centered people have torn down, other-centered people
can build up.
By the goodness of God at work within people, I believe that brokenness can
be healed. “And the lion and the lamb shall lie down together, and everyone
will sit under their own vine and fig tree, and none shall be afraid.”

Be blessed and encouraged abundantly to day as we remember that we were born for such a time as this!
