This week, I thought I would re-post one of my favorite LBD Guide to a FabYOUlous and healthy you posts that reminds each of us how important it is to REST!

We must care for our Souls

Ok, I know that some of you are laughing right now. Yes, I know this is a tough subject for most women.  We all know it is important, but it is very difficult to carve out time to rest.

But the reality is we must.

Really …

Resting does not have to mean going to a cabana in Savannah;  although I love that idea. I mean, I really love that idea but the reality is that probably won’t happen today.

But why not try one of these simple ideas for caring for your soul:

Have a cup of  tea.

Read your favorite magazine.

Read your favorite Bible passage.

Listen to your favorite relaxing song.

Listen to praise and worship music.

Pray.

Just rest flat-out on the floor  and close your eyes for a couple of minutes.

Taking a technology break and do not answer your phone or check your email, Facebook, Twitter or whatever …

Go to bed early one night.

Treat yourself to a massage.

Take a hot bath in your favorite bath salts.

Go to yoga! I know an awesome gal right here in Newnan.

Buy fresh flowers for yourself  because you are special.

And one of my all time favorites ~ take a spin around the kitchen with someone you love.

Try doing at least one of the above this week and not feel guilty doing it!

Here is the deal, life is full of distractions.  We are all busy.  Sometimes we have to be and sometimes we simply create our busyness.

However, it is in the quietness that our soul can be restored and renewed.  That is how we care for our soul, one small choice at a time.

So here are a couple of questions you might ask yourself this week:

What have I done for myself this week that benefits and blesses me?

Can I name one thing that gave me great pleasure?

Have I taken time out of my crazy schedule to care for my soul?

Do I need to lay something at the foot of the cross that is bothering me and stealing my peace?

Then finally ask yourself,” Was I able to do something special for myself without feeling guilty for doing it?”

If you did feel guilty, “What did you do with those feeling?”

The reality is most women have an invisible cape and when it is on we think we are Superwoman or in some cases, Supermom, and many of those around us believe it too.

Somedays that feels pretty heading, being able to master the juggling of so many life issues. But in reality, we are only humans and the cape must be taken off at least often enough to save ourselves from ourselves.  We must simply take off  that cape and care for our souls and be renewed.  It is then that we can be all the more the blessing to those around us who really do need us healthy and whole!

So dear friends, be blessed and encouraged abundantly today as you continue to be a FabYOUlous you and carve out some time for just YOU!
