Thankful Thursdays ~ The Restoration Rescue Squad

When the SONs were small we watched hours of Dora the Explorer.  I know all about  Dora and especially the Restoration Rescue Squad.

Friends are there for each other, especially true friends.  We are there for each other no matter what.  That is what we do.

We rescue each other when we need to be rescued . We pray with each other when we need it.  We cry with each other to understand their  pain. We are there no matter what.Why? Because that is what true friends do.

Girlfriends are the best at this.  It is not only our gift but our calling.  We have a built-in heart of compassion.  You can count on all these women friends.  Whether you call them friends, the Sacred Few, the Inner Circle, the Four Horse Man or Heart Friends.  They are friends that you can count on no matter what.  It is the character of these women that never changes. It is a constant.

When true friends need each other they stop everything and are there for each other.  Like when my Maid of Honor turned around in the middle of the road in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sat in a hospital with my parents in a medical crises as I sat in Georgia.  That is the kind of friend I long to be. Faithful and long-suffering.

And just today a friend came and helped me organize “stuff” in my house. It may have meant very little to me, but it was life altering for me.

So today’s on this Thankful Thursday I want to say thank you for my girl friends for walking life’s journey with me and helping me be all that God has created me to be!

Be blessed and encouraged abundantly today as we celebrate that we are a new creation in Christ and that  a true friends sticks closer than a brother.
