Even though we are celebrating a new year, remember that every day is the perfect time to start living in your passion and purpose. I think self-examination, goal setting and getting a plan together is great any time of the year.  But most importantly, you must want to focus on YOU and your plan for success.

Many of us make New Year’s resolutions and try to accomplish some herculean goal that is unrealistic and unattainable.  That will soon lead to defeat and self-loathing.

But if we do not set out to get somewhere on purpose, then we will wander aimlessly through life.  Life will either happen to us or we will make choices that help guide us to our greater purpose.

Seeing our life from an honest perspective is critical.  This soul-searching helps us see our thorns in the flesh, our brokenness and our weaknesses.  The great news is that God can help us lead the life He has called and predestined us too.  But we must do our part.  He can’t do that work for us.  We must want God to restore our broken, dysfunctional and frayed lives.

Remember that nothing changes if nothing changes.

Sometimes we can get stuck.  Stuck in a place, a thought pattern, behavior or addiction and we can’t seem to get unstuck.  Often we simply surrender to it and no longer fight back.

But it is my desire that you fight back and work to build the life you want.  Take out your journal or notepad and ask yourself these types of questions:

  • What do I need to let go of that is no longer working for me or serving me well?
  • What are the things in my life that I will no longer tolerate; either those that are self-imposed or done by others?
  • What behaviors, habits, relationships and/or things are no longer well suited for my life now or the life I want to lead?
  • Where do I want to be next year at this exact time and day?
  • What has to change to help me live and be in that place I want to be in?
  • What are the dreams, passions and desires I have for my life?

Never forget your Dreams, Visions, Goals, Passions, Purpose and Calling.  Begin to set some specific, measurable, attainable and trackable goals to get started building the life and becoming the person you want to be.

I want to invite you to fight for the life you want.  Don’t give up and don’t give in.  I urge you to use every day as a springboard to a new life and FabYOUlous you. Seek God’s wisdom and most of all make the commitment to change! Be firm with yourself and fight back the old way of living with prayer and scripture to articulate the change you want to see now.

We have a choice.  Yes, we have to choose … choosing to change means admitting what we are doing isn’t working. It may be problematic or you feel you’re just headed in the wrong direction.  But you can change.  As long as we have breath to breathe we have the ability to change and live a new life.

So today and the days and months to follow  why not start Stepping Into Your Purpose? Yes, why not consider this the day to start making the changes you want. Make this the first day of the rest of your life and start creating the life you want.

Life is short, so don’t waste another moment or another year wasting precious time wishing your life was different without taking any action to make it so.   It is never too late to become the person you have always wanted to be!

Be blessed and encouraged as you fulfill your dreams and live life in your passion and purpose.
